Grateful Run

personal

On the first day of Chinese New Year, I attempted an 8km run, partly because a close friend of mine told me that she did 10km on an impulse the previous day. She made it seem possible to run a long distance and so I put myself to the task. I had not run past 4km since I got Covid-19 back in November so it was bound to be challenging. I turned on my Nike Run App, chose an 8km guided run, and I was on my way. In the midst of this run, the Nike Run Coach suggested blogging about the things I am grateful about and it seemed like a meaningful endeavour.

The first thing that came to my mind was the fact that I was able to put one foot in front of the other with ease and appreciate the sights and sounds around me. I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis for a while now, and it was one of those days where the pain seemed under control and for that I am extremely grateful.

I am also grateful that I was able to afford those high support shoes by Hoka and arched support slippers that have helped me deal with the pain. Sometimes being able to afford the things that can help improve your life can make all the difference.

The last thing that came to my mind at that point in time was being grateful for the chance to be a part of a crazy community that is supporting my growth. For the first time in a long time, I have a sense of clarity and it is a great place to be.

I surprised myself by finishing the run and I felt that I could have gone on longer even and the ability to run long distances will probably be a huge help in my weight loss journey.
