Drop the Bar

personal

One rep, two reps, three reps, each rep getting harder than the previous one; my mind and body telling me to give up in unison. These are my feelings each time I go for gym class and yet I go again the next day. My fitness plan for the year is simple - fit into clothes that I could wear back in 2020. But there is more to my plans in 2022. I know I will lose the weight and I can say that with certainty, but I feel the need to make something of my life - to do something meaningful. There is a clock in my head that keeps on ticking; the mounting pressure of hitting 30 in 2023.

The thing about doing something meaningful is to make a start on something. And I learnt today that the reason why so many people do not start something is because they want to get it right the first time – the perfectionist syndrome. The way to deal with this is to simply drop the bar we set ourselves each time we perform a task. Cheers to many imperfections in 2022.
