Oak D First Impressions

personal

Today, I took some time to play with Oak D, the spatial AI depth camera by OpenCV. I ran the sample code and tried the different AI models that came out of box with the kit. I am glad that it was able to ascertain with 99% accuracy that I am a person.

I noticed that it got scorching hot after 2 minutes of play. Also, the models didn’t seem to be able to identify an apple like the tutorial showed it could. I suspect there are issues with the running of the sample code, perhaps some lacking dependencies so the interface may not be actually switching models based on the menu.
