Today, I had the privilege of meeting an AI researcher and he shed some light on how I can go about getting a robot to follow me around. I can use an object detection algorithm such as YOLOv3 to detect a person and an AI object tracking algorithm to help the robot follow the person and keep a distance. When it came to tracking, my first thought was to use a Kalman filter, but it will be interesting to explore an AI tracking algorithm.
